The Georgia Radio History Project

Founded in 2007, The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame mission was the preservation of the history and pioneers of Georgia Radio. In 2013, a documentary exhibit was unveiled at Georgia State University. The exhibit was created by students working with then Popular Music and Culture Archivist Kevin Fleming and John Long, Co-Founder and President of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame

The Georgia State partnership grew to include:

How radio works - Map of Georgia stations - 1920s: Georgia radio pioneers - 1930s: Coming of Age - 1940s: The War Years and its affect on radio

1950s: Growth and Change - 1960s: Expanding reaches with the growth of FM radio - 1970s: Continuing Community Development - and others

Since 2021 the dramatic changes in  the world and in radio in general brought about a revaluation the organizations goals, ability to operate. The non profit's funding came from regular monthly and annual member funding and highly successful annual awards events. Participation by over 800 members began to decline. Participation in annual nomination and voting by lifetime members diminished also.

As a result of the changes in the world and in Georgia, the GRHoF has several of it's functions including: nomination and voting, nomination, voting and induction and annual awards. The GRHoF will continue to work with Georgia State to add and update portions of it's past functions.

The new GEORGIA RADIO HALL OF FAME Tribute to our past inductees will be preserved

The GRAND OPENING of the new site will be announced in an email to our members as well as media.

This page will be updated when the transition is completed. You may contact us at grhof . com
