Oscar Leverette
While still in high school, before he was old enough to drive, Oscar Leverette worked part time at WNEX in Macon doing air shifts, remotes, and spotting for high school football game broadcasts. After graduating, he moved to WBML as engineer and weekend jock. He served in the Navy from 1967 until 1970 where he worked on radio and televison station aboard carrier Bon Homme Richard. After military service he returned to Macon and radio working at WNEX, WBML, and became operations manager for WMAZ FM 99. Leverette joined 2011 Legacy Inductee Ben Porter's Piedmont communications as Vice President and Station Manger. When the station was sold he became director of group operations for new owners, US Broadcasting. In 1998 Oscar moved to WMAZ TV. In 2005 he retired as their Assistant Chief Engineer. Today he does contract engineering for various stations in middle Georgia.
